Josiah Collier

Expert Patent & Trademark Attorney

After becoming the only person in his law school’s history to graduate a year early, Attorney Collier started his own law firm and has been practicing business law for over 5 years, serving businesses with incorporation, contract review & drafting, mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate leasing and transfers, and business litigation. During that time, Attorney Collier obtained a USPTO patent license, becoming an Expert Patent and Trademark Lawyer.

Joe has done work for law firms and in-house counsel, acquiring the training and approval of seasoned attorneys. He even helped train law clerks, managed supporting staff, and advised on employment policies.

Now, he provides businesses with comprehensive legal support combined with expert intellectual property knowledge.

In his spare time, Joe self-studies Mandarin, Chinese and is pursuing an M.S. in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University.

Our attorneys’ transactional experience includes representation of the buyer of a $5 million hotel from Extended Stay America; and representation of the buyer for 4 Firehouse Subs locations, worth over $1 million. 

The firm’s business litigation experience has been focused on Breach of Contract, Business Dissolution, Ownership & Shareholder Disputes, Trade Secrets, Issues, and IP Infringement.

Patent Law

Our patent attorney has been USPTO-licensed since 2021 and has experience helping small business owners and independent inventors file patent applications. The firm’s business law experience allows us to defend small business owners faced with patent infringement litigation.

Collier Legal has patent application experience including provisional applications for fitness equipment, utility applications for construction equipment, utility applications for electrical-mechanical devices, utility applications for various handheld tools and miscellaneous inventions, utility and design applications for food storage devices, and patentability searches for several inventors.

Trademarks

We’ve helped clients apply for Trademarks, respond to USPTO office actions, successfully prosecuted Trademark applications to issuance, and consulted with several business owners on Trademark Infringement issues.

Intellectual Property Contracts & Licensing

Our firm frequently consults with business owners on the effects of contracts and transactional documents regarding intellectual property rights. This includes trade secrets issues, confidentiality, non-disclosure agreements, IP provisions in franchising agreements, work-for-hire issues, etc. Entrepreneurs come to Collier Legal when they care about protecting their IP rights when doing business.
